CENTRIFUGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DELFT
Simulation of soil uplift by grout injection.
Aim: what is the behaviour of a soil layer during expansion of grout bags.
Photo of test setup: preparation and installed in the centrifuge.
The expanding grout bags are simulated by salve tubes of thin metal.
They are injected with water by means of medical syringes, which are activated
by the loading system. The effect of single and multiple tubes can be compared.
ORIENTATING TEST
The tubes are visualised before and after the test.
Some markers are placed on the sand surface in order to visualize the uplift.
The displacement is visualized by subtracting two images, before and after the
tubes were filled. Image processing techniques can be used to digitize the
displacement of the markers during the test.
